Kevin Naylor

Lead pastor

I did not grow up in a Christian home. I didn’t know or care who Jesus was. But everything changed when I was in middle school and a friend invited me to come along with him to his church.

It was there that I met, placed my faith in, and began to follow Jesus. During my freshmen year in High School I went on a mission trip to Boston and felt called to church planting.

Originally from Charlotte, NC, I went to college at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA. It was there in October of my freshmen year that I met my now wife, Alli. We married in 2013 just a few months before moving to Birmingham, AL so that I could attend Beeson Divinity School.

From 2013-2018 I served on staff at Shades Mountain Baptist Church here in Birmingham first as an associate in the college ministry and then for three years as the University Minister. In early 2018 Alli and I both sensed God calling us to plant a church in the UAB area to reach both the campus and the city. In January 2019 we were sent and supported from Shade with a core team of 25 folks to plant Antioch. It was then that Antioch began and we held our first Sunday Gathering in September 2019.

We have three young kids, one son and two daughters.

I earned a Bachelors of Applied Theology at California Baptist University (2013) and a Masters of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School (2016).

I’m an introvert. So you can probably find me somewhere in the woods drinking coffee, listening to obscure indie-pop music, and reading.

I’m glad you found us. Hope to meet you soon.
