Emily McGee
Campus Ministry Intern
Going into college, I was a goody two shoes. I had a great GPA and wasn’t interested in “going wild,” yet I wasn’t a Christian. As my first semester continued, I met someone on staff with Campus Outreach, and we became friends. Every week, we’d meet at a new restaurant and talk about the deeper things in life. Little did I know, she was trying to show me the love of Jesus. At the end of 2021, I was at my end. I knew that my life lacked meaning, and that’s when I met Jesus. As our relationship grew, He showed me that I not only needed His ways — I needed His saving power. Now, I walk in my weakness and brokenness in freedom, as He has truly paid it all.
I am now a senior at UAB, and I have gotten to know this campus very well. It serves as a beacon for diversity, but it also pushes its students to high levels of achievement. That can be a really hard thing for many, and it’s easy for loneliness to result from that. That’s why I was so grateful that Antioch offered me this position — I want to love students like my friend loved me.
I have seen God’s power and faithfulness through His church, and I would love to meet you! If you love sports, going out to eat, or having a fun night in, I’m your girl. Let’s chat!
